Reading the life of Holly seems to be looking at my own reflection. While Gerry was around, she's was living her life *for* Gerry. And none of her own. Now that Gerry is gone, she was a lost sheep. It was a devastated life. Sharon and Denise, added a lot of humour in the subsequent chapters of Holly's life. Her karaoke competition at Hogan's, their vacation at Spain, their clubbing life and much more. Those really cracked me up. Laughing aloud like a mad man, on the bed alone, while holding the book. All the same; my good friends brought me up to where I'm now. Crisis after crisis. Adding spice to her life, Ciara (her younger sister) had her adventurous outings in Australia. Declan (her younger brother) aiming to be a famous film maker. Her mom has been the most supportive. Warming, caring and understanding. Towards the last few chapters, Richard (her older brother) made quite an impact on her. And some hilarious moments too.
When a lover has gone (either death or dumped), it really takes a lot of time to heal. No matter how long it takes but it does heal. Friends are important to give you the extra spices you need to get through it. And so does the family too. It's most reassuring to be back to the parent's place. To get all the cheer. Familiarity and sense of security. But it all boils down to ownself to get back on the feet. Be sure to climb out from the pit of self-pity. Because the world doesn't stop living for anyone. But towards the end, do not let the traumatic previous love life from stopping anyone to love again. Give a chance to ownself. And to others.
Some people has searched for a life time for a love one and to be loved, and yet not to be found. And those who have love and being loved, though it may be a short time, but the memories were there, written as part of a chapter of a life.
And hopefully my next book of the same author (Cecelia Ahern) should be "Thanks for the Memories".
By the way, I'm not sure but it's just my opinion, Cecelia Ahern and Sophie Kinsella do have similar writing styles. With different locations. One is in Dublin. ANother is in London.
Should I buy books written by Jodi Picoult too? Any recommendations?
Despite priding myself for speaking good English I actually read very few English books IRL. I wish I could recommend more books to you. Would you mind sharing where you got the book, price, number of pages, etc.? Maybe I should take up more reading from now on. :D

Nov 22, 2008 12:19:00 AMhhmmm... that Holly girl is quite interesting because there is this episode in Jigoku Shojo (Hell Girl - anime) about that attitude too.
hmmm... it seems like you didn't reflect on your own love life neh? :)
What you just said is a reflection to the book and it is quite obvious to everybody who has experienced loving, being loved and having an ex... well I did, and currently I'm still in a relationship... so how's your love life anyway???
hhhmm.... :p

Nov 27, 2008 9:18:00 PMGuys I just loved this book. Unlike the author I cried all the way through! It was the fact that the husband took such care into writing the letters that got to me. I wish I could do something like that. I found this site recently called farwawayfish.com, where you can save a profile and emails to be sent to your loved ones, AFTER YOU DIE! I mean, is that taking it too far? Or is it romantic?
