Swing Girls - I'm Feeling Good !

I'm feeling so happy and motivated. I've just done watching the 2-hour Japanese feel-good comedy movie, 'Swing Girls' (and a boy). A 2004 movie production by Shinobu Yaguchi, encompassed the positive side of things with lots of humor and jazzy musics too.

The movie is about a bunch of wacky fun-going girls who is stucked in the summer class and when the school band was down with bad food poisoning, those bunch were given the chance to replace the school brass band to perform at the next baseball match to support their school. I see Americans doing it with cheer leading team, and in this movie, Japanese doing it with their school brass bands. When the original brass band member team recovered earlier than expected those bunch of gals got booted out.

With much determination, not wanting to loose out and being looked down as good for nothing, 'girls only have fun' type, they determined very hard to succeed despite all the challenges and obstacles along the way. And the finale was the student brass band competition which they were aiming for and they were stuck in a train on their way in a snow storm.... can they make it? The ending is very captivating.

After a long tired week at work, I was sitting on my sofa, drinking my chilled chrysanthemum tea, laughing my guts out at those funny scenes and the movie ended with a positive note etched in mind. My favorite scene was the frozen frames when the gals (and a boy) chased by a wild boar and the song, 'What a Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong is played.
